What is Medical Coding?

Medical coding is the processing of compiling and maintaining records of services rendered at a health care facility, and filing insurance claims for reimbursement. How do you get into medical coding? Employers require technicians to be certified through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
